European startups attracted €8.6 billion in July across 267 deals, signaling sustained capital flow despite a decrease in deal volume. This resilience in funding comes as the European tech ecosystem continues to mature. The United Kingdom maintained its position as Europe's largest tech funding market, securing €18.7 billion over 423 deals in the first half of 2026. This data was tracked by Tech.eu.

Efforts to bridge funding gaps and support startup growth are ongoing across the continent. Projects like Connect2Scale aim to unite European investors and scale-ups by fostering partnerships between Business Angel networks in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. This initiative focuses on knowledge transfer from venture capital firms to business angels to harmonize cross-border investment opportunities and close the gap between funding cycles. Similarly, VENTURES THRIVE addresses barriers faced by deeptech startups when scaling due to market fragmentation. This project focuses on facilitating ventures in the European Widening area, tackling challenges like the lengthy time needed for deeptech to reach maturity and attract investment. The HICEE project also works to address low startup survival rates and lack of funding, specifically in Central and Eastern European innovation ecosystems.

What this means: Despite a dip in the number of deals, significant capital continues to flow into European startups, indicating investor confidence in the region's tech sector. Ongoing initiatives are crucial for fostering cross-border investments and supporting deeptech innovation, reinforcing the ecosystem's long-term health.
