The company's AI waste intelligence platform aims to optimise waste management, supporting the transition to a circular economy. This investment highlights a growing focus on sustainable deeptech solutions within the sector.
The push for circular models extends across various industries, seeking to minimise waste and maximise resource utility. For instance, the DICE project is developing novel, circular, and environmentally sound solutions for digital health devices, aiming to mitigate expanding health waste through improved design, collection, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, and recycling. This initiative reflects a broader effort to integrate circular principles into product lifecycles.
Artificial intelligence is proving crucial in tackling complex waste streams. The iCWaste project, for example, is leveraging value-driven AI to enhance construction waste management. Recognising that construction, demolition, and excavation waste constitutes a significant environmental and economic issue, iCWaste seeks to improve recycling quality beyond low-grade applications, aligning waste recovery with circular economy principles.
