Neuraspace lands €15.6M for AI space intelligence platform

Portuguese space technology company Neuraspace has secured €15.6 million in new financing to expand its AI-enabled Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Space Traffic Management (STM) capabilities. This funding, reported on August 5, 2026, by Tech.eu, will advance its platform designed to enhance orbital safety and sustainability. This investment highlights the growing importance of advanced solutions for managing the increasing number of objects in Earth's orbit.

The expansion of Neuraspace's AI platform directly addresses the challenges of satellite collision avoidance and space situational awareness. Similar efforts are underway in the broader European context, with projects like ATLAS2 aiming to develop the first sovereign service for space safety. ATLAS2, a Horizon-funded initiative, focuses on creating a global network of radars to detect debris and fuse data for collision avoidance, extending satellite lifetimes and reducing the need for frequent manoeuvres. This project's objective aligns with the critical need for robust space traffic management solutions.

The development of AI-driven platforms for managing complex traffic flows extends beyond space. For instance, the HYPERSOLVER project, also a Horizon initiative, is developing an Artificial Intelligence controller for air traffic control and air traffic flow management. Although focused on air travel, its objective to integrate AI for conflict resolution and optimisation within a single framework demonstrates a parallel in applying advanced AI to critical transportation management challenges. Neuraspace's investment underscores the urgent demand for similar, specialised AI solutions within the space sector to ensure the long-term viability of orbital operations.
